THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA MUSICAL


The Devil Wears Prada Musical based on the 2006 film and original novel is to open London's Dominion Theatre on 24th October 2024. With a score by Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub (Suffs), a book by Kate Wetherhead, and direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky BootsLegally BlondeHairspray)who has worked through  John’s original demos, with new aspects of the work coming to the UK version. The UK iteration is billed as “a brand-new reimagined production of The Devil Wears Prada… following a developmental run in Chicago in 2022.”

Set to star in the show will be Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives star Vanessa Williams playing the iconic Miranda Priestly, a role taken on by Meryl Streep in the original film. She will be joined by Matt Henry (Kinky Boots ) playing Runway magazine’s leading fashion authority Nigel, her close confident alongside Georgie Buckland (Shrek the Musical) as Andy and Amy Di Bartolomeo (Six) as Emily.

Joining them will be James Darch (Mamma Mia!) as journalist Christian, with Rhys Whitfield (The Phantom of the Opera) as Andy’s long–term boyfriend, Nate. For the show’s London run this autumn, Debbie Kurup will join the production as the standby Miranda Priestly. 

Completing the cast are Maddy Ambus, Gabby Antrobus, Selena Barron, Pamela Blair, Robertina Bonano, Lloyd Davies, Elishia Edwards, Akeem Ellis-Hyman, Elizabeth Fullalove, Jinny Gould, Natasha Heyward, Samuel How, Luke Jackson, Liam Marcellino, Robbie McMillan, Ciro LourencioMeulens, Gabriel Mokake, Theo Papoui, Christopher Parkinson, Eleanor Peach, Ethan Le Phong, Jon Reynolds, Harriet Samuel-Gray, Olivia Saunders, Kayleigh Thadani, Ella Valentine and Tara Yasmin.

Set design is by Tim Hatley (Life of Pi, Back to the Future), costume design by Gregg Barnes (Some Like It Hot, Legally Blonde), with lighting design by Bruno Poet (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, Frankenstein), sound design by Gareth Owen (Come From Away, & Juliet) with  casting by Jill Green CDG

The Devil Wears Prada follows aspiring fashion journalist Andy Sachs (played by Anne Hathaway in the film)who is is hired as assistant to Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep) cutthroat editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway Magazine, she discovers that breaking into the industry requires more than she expected. 

The Devil Wears Prada is presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.  The new musical is running at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 6th July to 17th August 2024, prior to opening at the Dominion.in October 2024

Guide dogs are permitted inside the auditorium
Platform lift down 10 steps. 3 spaces for wheelchair users at XX50, YY50, ZZ50 (the last 2 on a slight slope). Transfer seating to any aisle seat. People with motorised wheelchairs or wheelchairs (maximum of 3) can go in Box B the entrance is to the side of the theatre on Bainbridge Street.
