Back to The Future - The Musical which had an out-of-town preview at the Manchester Opera House in 2020, began performances at the Adelphi Theatre on 20 August 2021.

Cory English will take over the role of Doc Brown from Roger Bart who plays his final performance on 20 March 2023 before jetting over to New York to appear in the show on Broadway .

English was previously in the show from 23 November 2022 to 3 January 2023 and is now taking over permanently. His previous stage credits include The Producers, Sleepless and Young Frankenstein on Broadway.

English will join a cast including  Ben Joyce as Marty McFly, with Amber Davies as Lorraine Baines,  Oliver Nicholas as George McFly, Jordan Benjamin as Goldie Wilson, Harry Jobson as Biff Tannen, Sophie Naglik as Jennifer Parker, Gary Trainor as Strickland, Will Haswell as alternate Marty McFly and Dave McFly and Emma Lloyd as Linda McFly.

Also in the cast are Amy Barker, Simeon Beckett, Sia Dauda, Tyler Davis, Glen Facey, Dylan Gordon-Jones, Adam Margilewski, Cameron McAllister, Alessia McDermott, Bryan Mottram, Laura Mullowney, Anna Murray, Jon Reynolds, Melissa Rose, Georgia Tapp, Justin Thomas, Charley Warburton, Tavio Wright and Rhodri Watkins.

CAST CHANGE FROM 16TH AUGUST: Sarah Goggin (Sister Act) will join the show as Lorraine Baines, with Jay Perry (Hamilton) as Goldie Wilson, Jordan Pearson (Ladhood) as Biff Tannen, Lee Ormsby (Les Misérables) as Strickland, Rhodri Watkins (Carousel) as Dave McFly, Patricia Wilkins (Flashdance) as Linda McFly, Elliott Evans (Eugenius!) as alternate Marty McFly and Stephen Leask (School of Rock) as Alternate Doctor Emmett Brown.

They join current stars Cory English as Doctor Emmett Brown, Ben Joyce as Marty McFly, Oliver Nicholas as George McFly and Sophie Naglik as Jennifer Parker.

New to the ensemble will be Ella Beaumont, Alexander Day, Reece Darlington-Delaire, Helen Gulston, Matthew Ives, Connor Lewis, Louis Quinn, Grace Swaby-Moore and Alexandra Wright, joining Sia Dauda, Dylan Gordon-Jones, Adam Margilewski, Bryan Mottram, Laura Mullowney, Anna Murray, Georgia Tapp and Tavio Wright. 

Marty McFly is accidentally transported back to 1955 . Before he can make his way back to 1985, where he belongs, Marty needs to , or he might not have a future to go back to

The 1985 movie and pop culture phenomenon is transported to the stage by creators of the original film:  Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis.

The combined eight-time Grammy Award-winning pairing of Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard have written a  new score alongside the movie’s iconic hits, including The Power of Love, Johnny B Goode, Earth Angel and Back in Time

Directed by Tony Award-winning John Rando (Urinetown) alongside the multi Tony and Olivier Award-winning team of Tim Hatley (design), Hugh Vanstone (lighting) and Finn Ross (video) with choreography by Chris Bailey and illusions by Paul Kieve (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban).

Producer Colin Ingram (Ghost – The Musical) said: "This show has been six years in the making and we are delighted to be showing it to the people of Manchester first before the rest of the world gets to see it. As I did with Ghost, Manchester gets it first."
