Back to The Future - The Musical which had an out-of-town preview at the Manchester Opera House in 2020, began performances at the Adelphi Theatre on 20 August 2021.

Ben Joyce who played Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys London has takeñ over the role of Marty McFly, Roger Bart (Desperate Housewives) plays Doc Brown. with Will Haswell as alternate Marty McFly and Dave McFly, while Emma Lloyd is Linda McFly.Amber Davies (9 to 5) plays Lorraine Baines McFly, while Oliver Nicholas (All Kinds of Limbo) is George McFly. Jordan Benjamin (Hairspray) is Goldie Wilson, Harry Jobson (2022 graduate of The Urdang Academy) is Biff Tannen, Sophie Naglik (The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe) is Jennifer Parker and Gary Trainor (School of Rock) is Principal Strickland.

Ensemble members include Simeon Beckett, Sia Dauda, Tyler Davis, Glen Facey, Dylan Gordon-Jones, Adam Margilewski, Bryan Mottram, Anna Murray, Jon Reynolds, Georgia Tapp and Charley Warburton, Amy Barker, Cameron McAllister, Alessia McDermott, Laura Mullowney, Melissa Rose and Tavio Wright with Rhianne Alleyne, Amy Barker, Matt Barrow, Joshua Clemetson, Jamal Crawford, Bessy Ewa, Ryan Heenan, Alessia McDermott, Laura Mullowney, Nic Myers, Shane O'Riordan, Katharine Pearson, Oliver Tester and Justin Thomas

Marty McFly is accidentally transported back to 1955 . Before he can make his way back to 1985, where he belongs, Marty needs to , or he might not have a future to go back to.

The 1985 movie and pop culture phenomenon is transported to the stage by creators of the original film:  Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis.

The combined eight-time Grammy Award-winning pairing of Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard have written a  new score alongside the movie’s iconic hits, including The Power of Love, Johnny B Goode, Earth Angel and Back in Time

Directed by Tony Award-winning John Rando (Urinetown) alongside the multi Tony and Olivier Award-winning team of Tim Hatley (design), Hugh Vanstone (lighting) and Finn Ross (video) with choreography by Chris Bailey and illusions by Paul Kieve (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban).

Producer Colin Ingram (Ghost – The Musical) said: "This show has been six years in the making and we are delighted to be showing it to the people of Manchester first before the rest of the world gets to see it. As I did with Ghost, Manchester gets it first."
