The Donmar Warehouse is a modern 250-seat subsidised (not for profit) theatre which is situated close to Covent Garden in the heart of London’s West End.
The auditorium has seating on three sides of the stage and on two levels. The seating is bench style and there is space to place coats and bags underneath as there is no cloakroom. The auditorium is air cooled and drinks can also be taken to your seats.
The Box Office is on the ground level at the end of the foyer. There is a lift to the right-hand side which accesses all levels.
The bars are located on both levels. They are air-cooled and open 30 minutes before the performance and close after the interval. If there is no interval the stalls bar will remain open after the performance for 30 minute
The Donmar has a reputation as one of the UK’s leading producing theatres. Michael Grandage is the artistic director with a diverse artistic policy that includes new writing, contemporary reappraisals of European classics, British and American drama and small scale musical theatre.
Over the last 16 years the Donmar has obtained a reputation associated of artistic excellence showcasing the talent of some of the theatre industry’s premier.
The Donmar presents at least six productions a year at its home in Covent Garden, as well as work nationally and internationally. Every year it tours one in-house production in the UK, Frost/Nixon toured across the USA and Mary Stuart opened on Broadway.
Productions which originated at the Donmar have received 35 Olivier Awards, 23 Critics’ Circle Awards, 21 Evening Standard Awards, two South Bank Award and 14 Tony Awards from nine Broadway productions.
