Top Hat the musical on tourThe musical version of the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie Top Hat, with music by Irving Berlin closed at the Aldwych Theatre in London's West End at the end of October. It won three Olivier awards for Best New Musical, Best Choreography, Best Costumes and the Evening Standard Award for Best Night Out and is now embarking on a 48 week UK tour starting in August.

The leads will be played Alan Burkitt/Jerry Travers and Charlotte Gooch/Dale Tremont. Both return to the show having previously performed the roles in the West End.

Also in the new cast are Clive Hayward, who returns to the role of Horace Hardwick, Rebecca Thornhill as Madge Hardwick, Sebastien Torkia as Alberto Beddini and John Conroy as Horace's valet Bates. With ensemble members Lucy Ashenden, Thomas Audibert , Sophie Camble, Matthew Caputo, Kristy Cullen, Ian Goss, Carys Gray, Alyn Hawke, Rebecca Hodge, Samuel Humphreys, Thomas Inge, Thomas-Lee Kidd, Sarah-Marie Maxwell. Top Hat has songs including Isn’t This A Lovely Day (To Be Caught In The Rain), Cheek To Cheek, No Strings, Puttin’ on the Ritz, Let’s Face The Music And Dance,I’m Putting All My Eggs In One Basket and the title song Top Hat (White Tie And Tails)

Top Hat is about the glamour of 1930s Hollywood’s golden age and the tap-dancing magic of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. It is a romantic comedy which tells the story of Broadway sensation Jerry Travers who dances his way across Europe to win the heart of society girl Dale Tremont.
