THE BODYGUARD
For the new stage musical version The Bodyguard Alex Dinelarius has written a new book that isn't a word-for-word copy of the film which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.
Thea Sharrock directs Heather Headley (who has a truly amazing voice) in the role of rock star Rachel Marron until 10th August (the part played by Whitney Houston). Gloria Onitiri will play the role from 12th August-7th September inclusive
Lloyd Owen (who has more than a passing resemblance to Kevin Costner) in the title role until 7th September. She has to belt out more than 10 numbers in the Bodyguard and the musical will feature Whitney Houston classics hits including: Queen of the Night,So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, I'm Your Baby Tonight,Run to You, I Have Nothing, How Will I Know, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You.

Alternating the role of Rachel Marron's young son Fletcher will be Joshua-James Thomas, Michael Matias, Taylor Lockhart and Malaki Paul.
| Cast changes from 9th September: Soul diva Beverley Knight is set to make her West End when she takes over the role of Rachel Marron with Tristan Gemmill playing Bodyguard Frank Farmer. Debbie Kurup continues in the role of Nicki Marron. The Bodyguard is a 1992 American romantic thriller film with Frank Farmer as a former Secret Service Agent-turned-bodyguard who is hired to protect Oscar nominated music superstar Rachel Marron after she receives a number of threats against her life and a small bomb detonates in her dressing room.
The film follows Rachel's singing career and family life. After a shaky start she falls in love with Frank and a plot unfolds that is full of suspense with a number of twists and turns.
Heather Headley will not be performing on Wednesday or Saturday matinees but is expected to appear at all evening performances excluding Monday 17th - Thursday 20th June, Monday 15th - Wednesday 17th July inclusive. Lloyd Owen is expected to appear at all performances excluding Monday 1st - Saturday 6th July inclusive. |
