Donmar's Spelling Bee

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical comedy which revolves around a contest where a place in the national finals is at stake. This causes tensions and emotions to overspill. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee transferred to Broadway in 2005  where it ran for three years and won the Tony for Best Book of a Musical.

 

The cast for the will include Steve Pemberton (Drowsy Chaperone, Rocky Horror, League of Gentlemen) , Katherine Kingsley (recently Rose in Trevor Nunn’s Menier revival of Aspects of Love, Piaf, Company) with Chris Carswell, David Fynn, Hayley Gallivan, Harry Hepple, Maria Lawson, Ako Mitchell and Iris Roberts.

Jamie Lloyd will direct and has said that four members of the audience will join the show each night to have their spelling ability tested.

The production will be designed by Christopher Oram, lighting by Neil Austin with  Alan Williams as the Mus25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Beeical Director and Anne Yee doing the choreography.

DISABLED ACCESS TO THE HAYMARKET

There is an infrared hearing system in the main auditorium, please collect headsets from the Box Office
Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome in the auditorium, please request an aisle seat when you book. Or staff are happy to dog sit for you.

The Donmar is wheelchair accessible. There is a step from Earlham Street into the foyer which a member of staff will place a portable ramp over. Or there is level access through Thomas Neal's shopping until 18:30

On the circle level there is an accessible toilet for the priority use of disabled customers.
