Shrek the Musical

Producers of SHREK THE MUSICAL® have announced that, following the success of the first ever UK and Ireland Tour which ended in February 2016, the production will be embarking on a new nationwide tour later this year.

The tour is again being directed by Nigel Harman who played the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad during the West End run and won an Olivier Award for his performance. His television credits include heart-throb Dennis Rickman in EastEnders.

The production which will feature Steffan Harri (Les Miserables) in the title role alongside Laura Main (Call the Midwife) as Princess Fiona ( due to filming commitments she will only be performing at venues marked ** below ) / X Factor's Amelia Lily will play the role at other venues, with Marcus Ayton (The Rat Pack Live) as Donkey and Samuel Holmes (The Wedding Singer, Mrs Henderson Presents) as Lord Farquaad.

They are joined by a company of fairytale characters played by Adam Baker, Ethan Bradshaw, Michael Carolan, Joseph Dockree, William Hawksworth, Sarah-Louise Jones, Reece Kerridge, Thomas Lee Kidd, Amy Oxley, Jemma Revell, Lucinda Shaw, Sam Stones, Adam Taylor, Jennifer Tierney, Sophie Wallis, Francesca Williams, Laura Wilson and Kevin Yates.

SHREK THE MUSICAL® is based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book Shrek! and the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks Animations feature film. Originally directed in the West End by Jason Moore and Rob Ashford, the production has book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, music by Jeanine Tesori with multi award-winning set and costume design by Tim Hatley. It is being produced on tour by Neal Street Productions, Playful Productions, Ron Kastner, Saracen Films, Tulchin/Bartner Productions, Gavin Kalin, Glass Half Full Productions/Just For Laughs Theatricals, Lee Menzies and Mark Cartwright.

Join our unlikely hero Shrek and his loyal steed Donkey as they embark on a quest to rescue the beautiful (if slightly temperamental) Princess Fiona from a fire-breathing, love-sick dragon. Add the diminutive Lord Farquaad, a gang of fairytale misfits and a biscuit with attitude, and you’ve got the biggest, brightest musical comedy around! SHREK THE MUSICAL brings over 100 much-loved fairytale characters, plus a 14 foot dragon, to life in an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza. This spectacular new production turns the world of fairytales upside down in an all singing, all dancing mix of magic, laughter and romance.
