ROCK OF AGES

Rock of Ages musicalRock of Ages is  the hit Broadway jukebox musical comedy which is set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip.  The story centres on Drew who is a busboy and aspiring rocker who goes in search of his dreams to Los Angeles’ most famous rock club, where he meets Sherrie who has just arrived from Kansas.

Rock of Ages features glam-rock music from Bon Jovi, Journey, Whitesnake, Poison and Pat Benatar with over 20 hits including “Sister Christian”, “I Wanna Rock”, “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, “Come on Feel the Noize”, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”, “The Final Countdown” and “Don’t Stop Believin’” , “Dead or Alive”, “We Built This City”, “I Wanna Know What Love Is” and “The Final Countdown”.

A Hollywood screen adaptationof Rock of Ages starring Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand and Julianne Hough is currently in production.

Comedian, television, radio presenter and occasional singer Justin Lee Collins will play the role of Bourbon Bar owner and ageing hippy Dennis Dupree (played in the original LA stage show by Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass and in the forthcoming film by Alec Baldwin). He is joined by Shayne Ward who rose to fame as the winner of second series of The X Factor. Shayne is playing the role of over the top heavy metal superstar Stacey Jaxx (played by Tom Cruise in the new film version and James Carpinello in the original Broadway cast).

Oliver Tompsett (Wicked!, Mamma Mia) and Natalie Andreou will play the leads of small-town boy and girl Drew and Sherrie and Simon Lipkin (Nicky/Trekkie Monster in Avenue Q) will be playing Lonny the wise-cracking narrator.

They wll be joined by Grant Anthony, Cordelia Farnworth, Twinnie-Lee Moore, Andrew Spillett, Amy Thornton, , Carly Mercedes Dyer, Ian McIntosh, Jamie Muscato, Zizi Strallen and Dylan Turner.
