OLIVER! THE MUSICAL

oliver! the musicalOliver the musical is based on the novel Oliver Twist which was written by Charles Dickens. It is set in Victorian London and Oliver Twist is an orphan in one of the  workhouses. The story starts  with all the children going down to have supper when Oliver utters the immortal words "Please Sir, can I have some more".

Oliver is sold to an undertaker and runs away, eventually being found by the Artful Dodger who takes him to Fagin who takes him into his gang and teaches him to become a pickpocket.  

The violent Bill Sikes, his dog Bullseye and girlfriend Nancy also feature in the plot which takes some violent twists and turns until Oliver is eventually given the home he deserves.

Oliver! has some huge dance routines and lavish show tunes. The score includes Lionel Bart’s well known songs including Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, You’ve Got to Pick-a-Pocket or Two, I’d Do Anything, Oom Pah Pah, and As Long As He Needs Me.

Jodie Prenger is scheduled to perform on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Evenings, Wednesday Matinees, and both performances on Saturday. Tamsin Carroll will play Nancy on Wednesday evenings.

Due to licensing issues the boy performing Oliver cannot be decided until shortly before the performance starts.

Oliver! is suitable for audiences of all ages.  Children aged under 4 will not be admitted to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

DISABLED ACCESS TO OLIVER!

Infra-red system with headsets. Induction loop at Box Office.  Headsets available in the foyer.
Guide dogs are allowed inside the auditorium. Staff can also dog-sit up to four dogs per performance in the Manager's office.
Entrance to theatre through door on Russell Street which leads into the left of the Stalls. Four spaces for wheelchairs users, L1 and 35 and K1 and 35, companions can sit in the same row. Transfer seating to aisle seats, wheelchairs can be stored in the Stalls store room (maximum of two scooter transferees). Stair lift also available (transfer)
Adapted toilet to the left inside Russell Street entrance, beside the Stalls.
