Encouraged by his dance teacher, this is the heartwarming story of a lad willing to go against his macho upbringing to pursue his dreams. A real feelgood show.
Billy Elliot the Musical is based on the film of the same name which starred Jamie Bell. It contains strong language and some scenes of confrontation between policemen and miners making the recommended minimum age of 8 for children attending.
Ann Emery who was in the original stage production of Billy Elliot has returned to the cast playing Billy’s grandmother. She joins new cast members Gillian Bevan/Mrs Wilkinson: Deka Walmsley/Dad: Michael Peavoy/Tony: Sean Kearns/George and Simon Ray Harvey/Mr Braithwaite.
Ryan Collinson, Josh Baker and Adam Vesperman alternate the role of Billy. Reece Barrett, Connor Kelly, Connor Lawson and Joe Massey alternate the role of Billy's best friend Michael and Francesca Mango and Emily Williams alternate the role of Debbie.
They perform alongside current cast members: Kay Milbourne/Dead Mum: Barnaby Meredith/Older Billy and ensemble members Craig Armstrong, David Bardsley, Romy Baskerville, Paul Basleigh, James Butcher, Spencer Cartwright, Jaymz Denning, Caroline Deverill, Helen French, Sergio Giacomelli, Kieran Jae, Connor McAllister, Steve Paget, Ryan Pidgen and Dan Reilly plus swings Alan Bradshaw, Dawn Buckland, Lucinda Collins, Ian Gareth Jones and Mike Scott.
Music & lyrics by Elton John and book by Lee Hall. Directed by Stephen Daldry and choreography by Peter Darling who both also worked on the film version.
