BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM MUSICAL

bend it like beckham the musicalThe new musical Bend It Like Beckham is playing at the Phoenix Theatre.

Based on the 2002 film starring Keira Knightley, the musical is directed by Gurinder Chadha, who also directed the film, with  music and lyrics by Howard Goodall and Charles Hart.

The film centres around 18-year-old daughter of Punjabi Sikhs in London. Infatuated with football but forbidden to play by her parents, she joins a local women's team, which makes its way to the top of the league.

Casting for the musical includes Natalie Dew playing the show’s leading lady Jess, Lauren Samuels as Jules, Jamie Muscato is Joe. They will be joined by Preeya Kalidas/Pinky: Jamal Andreas/Tony: Sophie-Louise Dann/Paula: Tony Jayawardena/Mr Bhamra, Kayleigh McKnight and Natasha Jayetileke/Mrs Bhamra who will be joined by Sohm Kapila/Aunty: Harveen Mann/Aunty: Buckso Dhillon-Woolley/Aunty: Irvine Iqbal/Uncle: Karl Seth/Uncle: Cousins Sejal Keshwala, Serina Mathew,Sharan Phull: Footballers Rakesh Boury, Jorell Coiffic Kamall, Tom Millen, Daniel Bolton: Rajaj Bajaj/Teetu: Harriers Kirstie Skivington, Michelle Bishop, Chloe Chambers, Danielle Young, Lisa Bridge, Genesis Lynea: Kayleigh McKnight/Swing and Indian Heritage Singers Rekja Sawhney and Shahid Khan
