She sold her first hit, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, when she was just seventeen and by the time she was twenty was writing number ones for some the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll, including the Drifters, the Shirelles, Aretha Franklin and the Monkees. it features classic numbers including So Far Away,Oh! Carol,It Might as Well Rain Until September, Some Kind of Wonderful, Up on the Roof, The Locomotion, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling, One Fine Day, It's Too Late, You've Got a Friend (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and Beautiful.

Casting includes Cassidy Janson as Carole King,Matthew Seadon-Young  as King's first husband Gerry Goffin, Barbara Drennan as King's mother Genie Klein/, Lorna Want/ Cynthia Weil, Ian McIntosh/Barry Mann and Joseph Prouse/Don Kirshner with ensemble members Gavin Alex, Georgie Ashford, Koko Basigara, Tsemaye Bob-Egbe,Ashford Campbell, Treyc Cohen, Natasha Cottriall, Michael Duke, Matthew Gonsalves, Jammy Kasongo, Leigh Lothian and Earl R. Perkins who play iconic musical performers and band members of the era and swings Derek Aidoo, Rosie Heath, Dominic Hodson, Emma Louise Jones, Jessica Joslin, Vicki Manser, David O’Mahony and Jaime Tait.

Beautiful is the story of her journey from schoolgirl to superstar; from her relationship with husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, their close friendship and playful rivalry with fellow song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, to her remarkable rise to stardom.

She became one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history, and wrote the soundtrack to a generation.

With a book by Tony and Academy Award-nominee Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni and choreography by Derek McLane< (Set Design), Alejo Vietti (Costume Design), Peter Kaczorowski (Lighting Design), Brian Ronan(Sound Design),Charles G. LaPointe (Wig and Hair Design), Steve Sidwell(Orchestrations and Music Arrangements), Jason Howland(Music Supervision) and John Miller (Music Coordination).

This production ended its West End run on 5th August 2017 but a new show will be be touring the UK from 9th September.

The Young Vic is in a residential area so car parking is limited and subject to restrictions. Public transport is recommended but if you drive you can park at National Car Park Ltd on Upper Ground, Coin Street and at Waterloo Station. The theatre is in London's congestion zone operating 07:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday, excluding Public Holidays.
