BATMAN LIVE TOUR
A large-scale arena tour of Batman Live is taking place this this summer. It will be the first time the Dark Knight has been seen on stage.
The live show features comic characters Batman and his sidekick Robin, as well as butler Alfred battling against villains including The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, Two-Face and Harley Quinn.
The plot is based on an original story by comic book legends Stan Berkowitz and Alan Burnett and will focus on the life of Batman's sidekick Robin (a circus performer called Dick Grayson who loses his parents to organised crime).
Adapted from the DC Comics Batman Live tells the stories of Robin’s search for justice which leads him to follow in the footsteps of his hero Batman. Who just happens to be his guardian the millionaire Bruce Wayne.
The arena show includes pyrotechnics, a trapeze show and hot air balloon sequences, stuntmen, super villains and Batmobiles on a 100ft-wide, 60ft-deep performance area, with a giant video wall flashing panels from comic strips and special effects which give the appearance of interacting with the live performers on stage. Batman Live also has circus sequences which include a trapeze show and hot air balloon sequences.
The cast is: Nick Court and Sam Heughan will play the combined roles of Batman and Bruce Wayne: Mark Frost has been cast as the villainous Joker and Robin / Dick Grayson will be played by Kamran Darabi-Ford and Michael Pickering.
Other cast members include Commissioner Gordon/The Penguin - Alex Giannini: Catwoman /Martha Wayne - Emma Clifford : Alfred Pennyworth - John Conroy: Harley Quinn / Mary Grayson - Poppy Tierney: Two Face / Ringmaster - Garry Lake: Tony Zucco - Jack Walker and Dr. Wayne - Darrell Brockis.
The Creative Director is Anthony Van Laast and Co-Director James Powell. Set design by Es Devlin, music composed by James Brett, sound design by Simon Baker, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, video direction by Sam Pattinson, costume design by Jack Galloway. Circus sequences created, produced and managed in association with Circus Space with Bryan Donaldson and Juliette Hardy-Donaldson as consultants.
