TRACIE BENNETT

Tracie BennettTracie Bennett’s television debut was in the children's series Going Out.  She then played Sharon Gaskell, the Fairclough's foster daughter in Coronation Street between 1982 and 1984 and returned to the role in 1999.

Her very extensive musical theatre credits include: La Cage aux Follies, Carousel, Grease, Chicago, Blood Brothers, She Loves Me, Honk!, High Society, Sex, Chips and Rock 'n' Roll, Les Miserable’s , Hairspray and End of the Rainbow

She won a Laurence Olivier Award as Best Supporting Performance in a Musical for She Loves Me at the Savoy Theatre in 1995 and played Ida in the Drewe & Stiles musical Honk!, which won the 2000 Olivier award for Best Musical.

In 2004 she was nominated for an Olivier Award for her role in High Society and then appeared in Sex, Chips and Rock 'n' Roll at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester for which she was nominated for a TMA Theatre Award as Best Supporting Actress in a Musical.

In January 2006 Tracie joined Les Miserables in London’s West End playing  in the role of Madame Thenardier and then went on to play Velma Von Tussle in the London premiere of the Broadway musical Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre for which she won an  Olivier Award for her  supporting role.

Tracie has been playing the very demanding role of Judy Garland in Peter Quilter's play End of the Rainbow at the Trafalgar Studios, for which she received great critical acclaim and was nominated for an Olivier Award. She played the part again on tour and has just finished reprising the role on Broadway.

Tracie won Celebrity Stars in their Eyes in the year 2000 playing Judy Garland.
