TAMZIN OUTHWAITE

Tamzin OuthwaiteTamzin Outhwaite shot to fame in her role as Melanie Healy/Owen in EastEnders, whom she played from 1998 until 2002. Her feisty character was involved in many explosive storylines.

After leaving the London Studio Centre she went on to many stage roles including Grease and Oliver! and worked at the Stephen Joseph TheatreĀ  before landing small parts in The Bill and Men Behaving Badly.

Since leaving EastEnders Outhwaite has starred in Out of Control, and Red Cap followed by Hustle, Final Demand and Frances Tuesday.

In 2006 she starred in the ITV series Vital Signs (a frustrated mother who decides to leave her dreary job at the supermarket and enrol in medical school) and in the BBC series Hotel Babylon playing aggressive hotel manager Rebecca Mitchell. In October 2006 she had a starring role in the movie thriller Backwaters which was set in India.

In 2007 she guest hosted an episode The Friday Night Project on Channel 4 and can also be seen in U2's music video Mysterious Ways.

She has since appeared in a revival of Boeing Boeing at the Comedy Theatre, the film Cassandra's Dream and the ITV drama series, The Fixer.

In 2009 Outhwaite appeared as the lead in the sci-fi crime series for the BBC entitled Paradox and most recently has starred in Sweet Charity which originated at the Menier Chocolate Factory and is transferring to the Haymarket Theatre on 23rd April 2010

She is married to EastEnders actor Tom Ellis with whom she has a daughter Florence Elsie Ellis born on 25th June 2008.
