JESSIE BUCKLEY

Jessie BuckleyJessie Buckley is an Irish singer and actress who came second to Jodie Prenger in  BBC’s  I'd Do Anything search for a new, unknown lead to play Nancy in the West End revival of the musical Oliver!

Buckley performed at Andrew Lloyd Webber's 60th Birthday In The Park show in September 2008.  She was offered understudy to Nancy but turned it down in favour of playing Anne Egerman in the Menier Chocolate Factory production of Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music.

She appeared with Maureen Lipman and Hannah Waddingham in the production which was directed by Trevor Nunn. It subsequently transferred to the Garrick Theatre in London's West End in April 2009 which was her West End debut.

Since the show closed Jessie Buckley has appeared in a Christmas concert with Maria Friedman and Tim Rice, with Daniel Boys in a series of Valentine musical concerts and in cabaret at Pizza on the Park

She has appeared in the film Join My Band in a  part which could have been written for her as it calls for an actress who can play the harp. Her mother is a professional concert harpist, and she been playing the Irish Harp since the age of 7, passing Grade 6 with flying colours!

In July she appeared in cabaret at the Delfont Rooms at the Prince of Wales Theatre and is performing at The Sound of the Musicals’ Christmas Festival in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall on Thursday 30th December. Other West End musical theatre stars appearing with her include Deborah Myers, James Graeme and Tim Howar.

Jessie is performing a number of cabaret shows this year including a jazz evening at the Royal Albert Hall.
