DANIEL KOEK

 

Daniel KoekDaniel Koek has been playing the part of Anatoly the Russian in Craig Revel Horwood's new touring production of Chess the Musical followed by the new UK tour of South Pacific.

Daniel Koek was born in Australia. He moved to London and was awarded a place on the Musical Theatre Post Graduate Course at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts graduating in 2005. He then sang with the Reis Opera Company of the Netherlands, and performed the lead role in a new work for the National Youth Opera Festival in Amsterdam.

Daniel has played the lead in Jason and the Argonauts and was a principal cast member in Pacific Overtures at the Leicester Haymarket. He also appeared in the international tour of Saturday Night Fever which took him to both Korea and Taipei.

Prior to Chess Daniel played Tony in the 50th Anniversary production of West Side Story produced by the Ambassador Theatre Group (also the producers of South Pacific).

He also performed in Tim Rice's Chess in Concert at the Royal Albert Hall with Josh Groban, Idina Menzel and Kerry Ellis and in 2006 did a Scandinavian Tour of Chess the Arena musical.

He has recently undertaken a series of solo concerts in the UK and has released his debut album Self Titled Tenor with a second album currently being recorded.

He played Lt Cable in the UK tour of South Pacific and has been performing in his native Australia. He is currently playing Jean Valjean in Les Miserables at the Queen's Theatre.
