ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR
The musical All the Fun of the Fair was co- written by David Essex and named after his hit 1975 album.
All the Fun of the Fair is co-written by Jon Conway (the creator of Boogie Nights,) and features many of David Essex’s hits including “Winter's Tale”, “Hold Me Close”, “Gonna Make You a Star”, “Rock On” and “Silver Dream”.
All the Fun of the Fair is set in a travelling funfair and tells the story of the owner Levi Lee (Essex), who is trying to come to terms with the loss of his wife while fighting off the attentions of an over amorous divorcee. He is also trying to deal with his difficult teenage son and his tangled love life as well as the worrying predictions of a gypsy fortune-teller.

Essex’s big break in musical theatre came in 1971 when he was cast as Jesus in the original London production of Godspell. Other roles have included Fletcher Christian in Mutiny! (which he also co-wrote) and Che in the original cast of Evita (which gave him the hit “Oh What a Circus”). More recent musical credits include Footloose in the West End and the tour of Aspects of Love
Joining previously mentioned David Essex (Levi Lee), are Christopher Timothy(Harvey), Louise English (Rosa), Michael Pickering (Jack, Levi's son), Nicola Brazil (Alice), Cameron Jack (Druid), Susan Hallam-Wright (Mary), Chris Holland (Kipper), Kieran Jae (Scotty), Tom Kanavan (Spiv), Tim Newman (Slow Jonny), Robert Rees (Chris), Emily Tierney (Sally), Tricia Adele Turner (Laura), Shona White (Rita) and Danielle York (Maisy).
Christopher Timothy is best known on TV for playing James Herriot in the long running Series "All Creatures Great And Small" and Mac McGuire in the BBC drama series "Doctors": Louise English’s musical stage credits include Hello Dolly!, Annie, Oliver and Me and My Girl: Nicola Brazil made her West End debut in Wicked and went on to play Amber in Hairspray and Sandy in Grease: Michael Pickering also made his West End debut in Wicked and then played the leading role of Ryan Evans in High School Musical.
The musical, which has been touring the UK in 2008/2009, is directed by David Gilmore. The book is by Jon Conway and songs of David Essex.
